Brazil's military kept its own UFO files. SIOANI was the UFO investigation system of the IV COMAR, under Major-Brigadier José Vaz da Silva. In 1968 it took in the Lins case, where its investigators sketched the craft Turíbio Pereira described. No SIOANI conclusion has surfaced. A year later came Tiago Machado's tripod landing at Pirassununga, with a circle of flattened vegetation 4 m across. In March 2006 the Air Force confirmed it held that file but would not release it. In 1970 SIOANI also took an interest in the Funil Dam guard Almiro Martins de Freitas.
