A Fortean investigator from Ohio, Ron Schaffner turns up across decades of creature cases. In 1976 he and Richard Mackey interviewed both officers from the Loveland Frog sightings. Each said the creature resembled the composite sketch. In 1978 he investigated the Minerva Monster with Earl Jones and others, and found the Cayton family credible. Later, as a researcher with the Ohio UFO Investigators League, he raised doubts about McIntyre in the Rome Township case. As a former BFRO curator, he read the Skookum Cast as the hind legs, hip, chest and wrist of a reclining elk.
