A village near Verviers, in Belgium, now part of the town itself. One evening in April 1990, presumably 4 April, Sabine let the dog out and saw strange stationary lights in the sky. Her boyfriend Patrick fetched his reflex camera and took two photos before the lights moved off behind a neighbour's house. The dark triangle in that picture became the face of the Belgian UFO wave. Experts at the Royal Military Academy and CNES found no obvious fakery, but on July 26, 2011, Patrick Maréchal told RTL-TVI it was a styrofoam hoax. The image later turned up illustrating a 1991 Pretoria case it had nothing to do with.
