An investigator with Civilian Saucer Intelligence, Isabel Davis went to Kentucky in 1956. She interviewed the family at the heart of the Kelly-Hopkinsville Encounter of 1955. She found Mrs Lankford credible. With Ted Bloecher she wrote Close Encounter at Kelly and Others of 1955, published by the Center for UFO Studies in 1978. The book also preserved Johnson's account of the Green-Clawed Beast of the Ohio River near Evansville. It cited a family friend's letter about a man calling himself an Air Force colonel, who told the couple to talk no further.
