A market town in Northumberland, and the setting for two of the archive's strangest stories. Late 1904. Sheep began dying in Hexhamshire and the Allen valleys, and the Hexham Courant reported a wolf at large in Allendale. Then 1971. In the back garden of 3 Rede Avenue, brothers Colin and Leslie Robson dug up two small stone heads. What followed became the Hexham Heads case, with reports of a half-man, half-sheep creature and a family rehoused by Hexham Council. Archaeologist Dr Anne Ross later linked a werewolf-like figure in her home to the Hexham wolf.
