Fouke Monster

Term 5 stories, 1851 to 1976

Arkansas, 1971. The Fouke Monster appeared, and it became a touchstone for the swamp apes of the American South. When it surfaced, Margaret Ross tied it back to older accounts like the Greene County Wild Man of 1851. Later reports were measured against it. The Noxie Monster of Oklahoma in 1975 belonged to the era of the Fouke Monster, alongside the Momo flap in Missouri. The Flintville Monster of 1976 stands beside it as one of the aggressive Southern Bigfoot waves. In Louisiana, the Honey Island Swamp Monster counts it among its nearest cousins, together with the Florida Skunk Ape.
