A long road across southern Australia. On the northern Eyre Peninsula it runs through empty stretches between Iron Knob and Kimba. Further west it crosses the Nullarbor Plain, past Balladonia and the 146.6 km straight to Caiguna. Sunday 4 February 1973. Three vehicles heading for Kimba met something their drivers could not name. The highway also carried the Balladonia truck driver encounter of 1978, and in January 1988 the Knowles family set out along it from Perth into the long dark of the Nullarbor.
