Elmendorf

Place 3 stories, 1986 to 2005

Two very different cases share this name. Elmendorf is a small community in southern Bexar County, Texas, just south-east of San Antonio. Spring 2004. A farmer named Devin McAnally began losing chickens, drained of blood, the meat untouched. The hairless, dog-like animal killed nearby became the Elmendorf Beast, the first well-known Texas chupacabra carcass, and later Reggie Lagow's Coleman animal in 2005 was measured against it. DNA later showed a coyote with sarcoptic mange. The name also appears in the Japan Air Lines Flight 1628 case of 1986, where military controllers at Elmendorf reported intermittent primary returns, later dismissed as clutter.
