A writer drawn again and again to the poltergeist. Colin Wilson appears in this archive as an author and presenter of hauntings. Of the Cock Lane Ghost of 1762, he said plainly it was a poltergeist. In 1980 he visited the Pritchard family home at Pontefract. His book Poltergeist! followed in 1981, linking the activity to Phillip's psychological tension and Diane's undeveloped mediumistic powers, and suggesting the ground itself held a peculiar force. On 28 January 1977, he presented the BBC Two dramatisation of the Ardachie Lodge haunting in Leap in the Dark.
