Context
More than 500 thylacine reports have come from mainland Australia since the 1930s. Mainstream zoology puts them down to foxes, dogs, wallabies and quolls. Hillside was the farm of Sid Slee, near Busselton, at the edge of the Yoongarillup area. Slee had seen "a strange kind of animal" there in the 1940s. For about a year in 1983 and 1984, Kevin Cameron, an Aboriginal tracker working for Western Australia's Agricultural Protection Board, tracked and tried to trap what Cameron believed were thylacines on the property.
