December 19, 1954. Venezuela. José Parra, an 18-year-old jockey, was out on a training run along the road between Valencia and Caracas. It was about 11 at night, by most accounts. Beside the road, six small men were pushing rocks and loading them into a disc-shaped craft. The disc hovered less than three meters above the ground. Parra could not get away. One of the beings aimed a small device at him. A ray of violet light held him frozen on the spot while the six jumped back aboard, and the disc quickly disappeared into the sky. Investigators later found footprints at the place. No one could say what had made them.
Late 1954. Venezuela was in the grip of a UFO wave. Newspapers carried story after story of small, hairy, aggressive beings, often armed with paralysing beams. The run had begun at the end of November at Petare, where Gustavo González and José Ponce reported a fight with a hairy being and a paralysing beam of light. Three weeks later, the wave reached Valencia.
