Ted Phillips studied physical trace cases. He compiled a catalogue of them for the Center for UFO Studies, and his 1975 edition included the Van Horne soybean field in Iowa. There he described a 40-foot circle of wilted, brittle plants, none of them broken. December 4, 1971. Working with J. Allen Hynek, he visited the Ronald Johnson farm at Delphos, Kansas, and found the ring outlined by unmelted snow. He wrote that the ground mark was indeed a mystery. He also interviewed Edwin Fuhr about the Langenburg saucer nests of 1974.
