Charles Bowen wrote for Flying Saucer Review and edited it, and he carried accounts from across the world. In 1966 he edited the FSR special The Humanoids. It reprinted L. R. Johannis's red disc encounter at Villa Santina and the 1965 police landing report from the Pretoria-Bronkhorstspruit road. In France he travelled with Aimé Michel and Jacques Vallée to interview Maurice Masse at Valensole. African cases followed. He wrote "A Hot Reception at Fort Beaufort" in 1972, and in June 1975 came "Car Teleported By UFOs In Rhodesia" about the Umvuma drive.
