An Irish Bigfoot researcher, Peter Byrne wanted evidence before belief. October 1970. Ivan Marx phoned Dahinden claiming a film of the Bossburg "Cripple Foot" creature, and a bidding war began. Byrne checked the filming site. It did not match Marx's account, and shifting shadows showed more time had passed between shots than claimed. Belief in the film evaporated. The Crate's Point sightings are said to have drawn him to The Dalles, where a World Bigfoot Center took shape. In 1976 he sent hair samples from the center to the FBI. The 1977 verdict was deer family origin.
