Mackal

Person 6 stories, 1932 to 1994

Prof. Roy P. Mackal of the University of Chicago went looking for living legends. In 1980 and 1981 he led expeditions toward Lake Tele in northern Congo, hunting the Mokele-mbembe with Marcellin Agnagna and J. Richard Greenwell. They gathered many native reports. No sightings. When Herman Regusters split from him and claimed an encounter in 1981, Mackal said flatly that he was not qualified. January 1994. Mackal joined a Japanese TV crew at Lake Dakataua as scientific adviser, filming the Migo. He later described the footage as three mating saltwater crocodiles, a reading Naish called completely incorrect.
