The fell
Souther Fell rises to 522 metres in the Northern Fells of the Lake District, just south of Mungrisdale. A writer in 1747 called it "a distinguish'd mountain of itself, encompass'd quite round", with the Glenderamackin at its foot. Its sides are steep. Too steep for an army. Too steep for anything on wheels.
