February 26, 1975. A fishing camp on the western shore of Lake Sorell, high in the Tasmanian highlands. Three glowing objects hang in the north-eastern sky. They are not moving with the clouds. For 45 minutes, two of them hover, recede and return. Then one glows brightly and closes the distance at phenomenal speed. It stops above the lake. A brilliant cone of light sweeps the water and the mountainside. The lake glows a fluorescent blue. The car radio fills with static. Then the object is gone, northeast, at a colossal speed, without a sound.

Context

Lake Sorell sits in the central highlands of Tasmania. On the evening of Wednesday 26 February 1975, a small party was camped on its western shore to fish. The main witness, named in the NICAP files as Terry Kelly, was a former RAAF aircrew member. With Kelly was a companion recorded as Miss C. M. Myers. Other anglers were camped about a mile away.
