October 13, 2001. Chulucanas, in northern Peru. The faithful of Pueblo Joven Ñácara were walking in the procession of the Señor Cautivo de Ayabaca. At about 8:30 in the evening, lights appeared overhead. Witnesses described eight spheres of red-orange light. Silent. Hovering. Forming strange geometric figures before fusing into a single sphere of light. A municipal cameraman, Iván Iza Nanfaro, recorded it. Two more events followed that autumn. On October 25 and November 15, townspeople reported lights coming down near the city. The next year, the case reached the Peruvian Air Force's UFO office, OIFAA. It became the first disclosed case in its files.
