A city in Minas Gerais, Brazil. In January 1996 it became the stage for one of the country's most famous cases. A UFO sighting on 13 January opened the series, followed by rumours of a creature captured by the fire brigade and an afternoon encounter in a vacant lot in Jardim Andere. Years earlier, in July 1979, investigators from CEVAPPA in Varginha travelled to the Baependi abduction and cast four footprints in plaster. Today Varginha calls itself the ET capital. A spaceship water tower stands there, and the Santuário do ET opened in 2022.
