UK Airprox Board

Organisation 3 stories, 1991 to 2013

Britain's Ministry of Defence no longer investigates UFOs. One official body still looks closely at strange encounters in British airspace. The UK Airprox Board examines near misses involving aircraft and reports to the Civil Aviation Authority. It took the Britannia Airways black lozenge case near Gatwick in 1991, and its working group could not explain it, judging there had been a possible risk of collision. In 2012 it logged the Glasgow A320 encounter over Baillieston as Report 2012166, finding no surveillance data showing an object beneath the aircraft.
