St. Augustine

Place 3 stories, 1896 to 2003

A Florida city on the bay, with Anastasia Island just across the water. The evening of 30 November 1896. Two boys bicycling on that beach found something huge half buried in the sand, later known as the St. Augustine Monster. Dr. DeWitt Webb, founder of the St. Augustine Historical Society and Institute of Science, examined it and proposed weights near 5 tons. The carcass became the most famous globster, set beside the Chilean Blob of 2003. In 1975 the town of Hastings, about 18 miles southwest, had its own sightings.
