globster

Term 13 stories, 1924 to 2023

Sanderson coined the word in 1962 for the Tasmanian Globster of 1960, the West Coast Monster, and it now covers a whole family of such finds around the world. The New Zealand Globster of 1965 and the Chilean Blob of 2003 belong to it. So, in the eyes of palaeontologist Darren Naish, does Trunko, the Margate Globster of 1924. Naish saw a rotting whale and called it another globster. Shuker agreed. The Panama Creature of Cerro Azul, found in 2009, has been described as a globster from the hills.
