Its magazine was called Doubt. Tiffany Thayer edited it, and through its pages the Fortean Society kept odd stories alive. In 1946, Vincent Gaddis, a Crawfordsville reporter and Society member, wrote "Indiana's Sky Monster" for Doubt. His telling of the Crawfordsville Monster of 1891 added a second night, with several hundred residents watching and some feeling its hot breath. No 1891 newspaper confirming those later nights has been found. Then, in 1953, Doubt printed two pages headed "Forteana ca 1500 BC." That was the Tulli Papyrus, with its circles of fire from the reign of Thutmose III.
