A researcher of British big cats, Di Francis wrote Cat Country: The Quest for the British Big Cat in 1983. In it she covered Felicity, the Cannich puma caught at Kerrow Farm in Glen Affric. Her own view was bold. She argued for an unknown native British big cat, a position she took on the Beast of Exmoor. The Kellas cats brought her closer still. Two live specimens, a female caught in 1986 and a male in 1988, later passed to Francis, who bred them. She supplied seven of the eight specimens Dr Andrew Kitchener went on to study.
