Regatta Day, 2005. Around midnight, three women were driving north on Tasmania's Midland Highway when a bright light appeared near Brighton. By the Bothwell turnoff, it seemed to be heading toward them. They pulled over and got out of the car. Within minutes, the object was hovering about 30m above the ground, less than 300m away. It was shaped like an AFL football. Closer, she guessed it was saucer shaped. A red light pulsed on one side. A blue one on the other. Late in the evening on Regatta Day, six more people reported a large bright light around Mangalore. Investigator Keith Roberts checked the airport, the Navy and Defence. He drew a blank.
