The Coptic Pope stands behind three of the archive's Marian apparition cases in Egypt. 9 April 1986. Pope Shenouda III ordered a committee to St Demiana's Church in Shubra, Cairo, and its members saw the Holy Virgin surrounded by a halo of light before dawn on 11 April. In Assiut in 2000, he called the sightings over St Mark's Church a message of comfort from heaven. At al-Warraq in 2009, he again set up a committee. Later he confirmed the apparitions at al-Warraq, Shubra and al-Zaytun.
