A 34-year-old metalworker at the Ateliers du Nord de la France steelworks at Blanc-Misseron, Marius Dewilde lived with his wife at level crossing No. 79, near Quarouble in the Nord. Friday 10 September 1954. About 10:30 pm. His dog barked. With a flashlight he found a dark mass on the track, and then two stocky beings about 1 m tall in something like diving suits. His Quarouble landing became one of the best-known cases of the French wave of 1954. The press covered it alongside the Mouriéras encounter of Antoine Mazaud at Bugeat the same night.
