Kecksburg

Place 4 stories, 1965 to 1990

A village in Westmoreland County, southeast of Pittsburgh. In 1965 Nevin Kalp saw something like a star on fire, and his mother Frances stepped outside to find blue smoke drifting from the nearby woods. A mile away, farmer Dale Howard felt a vibration and a thump. Unsolved Mysteries brought the case to a national audience in 1990, and the village now holds an annual UFO Festival, marking the 60th anniversary in 2025. Its name recurs elsewhere. Gordon's career began here before the Uniontown encounters of 1973, and Greece's Megaplatanos crash sits beside it as a possible fall of space hardware.
