Holman

Person 3 stories, 1909 to 1944

Brett Holman is a historian who keeps returning to the archive's oldest airship scares and wartime rumours. On Britain's 1909 scareship wave, he named C. D. Clayton as the likely creative force behind it, and judged that the press shaped how the sightings were read without creating them. In Australia, he identified Kangaroo Ground as the first report of the 1909 wave. It described no airship. Only revolving lights. Reading the Ministry of Defence files released in August 2010, he weighed the alleged Churchill cover-up of an RAF encounter and called it hearsay, suspecting a leg was being pulled.
