Organisation 3 stories, 1868 to 1965

A Utah newspaper, and a recurring witness to the state's strangest stories. In 1868 its correspondent Joseph C. Rich wrote to the editor from Paris, Rich County, about the Bear Lake Monster. The letter ran on August 3. In 1871 the paper printed Bishop William Price's account of a serpent in Utah Lake and gave it guarded support. Decades later it returned to both mysteries. A 1991 headline asked whether Bear Lake held a monster or a mirage. In 1996 investigator Hicks told the paper he had looked into more than 400 sightings around the Uintah Basin.
