Two places share the name. Cuenca is a province of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain, and a city in Ecuador. In July 1953 a young cowherd at Villares del Saz, in Cuenca province, reported the encounter that later headed a Guardia Civil table of 25 UFO incidents, and Ofensiva of Cuenca published his interview. In 1968 Iberia crews saw an elongated, bright object over Cuenca. Two sergeants at its meteorological station described something metallic and bell-shaped, and an F-104 went after it. In Ecuador, the high grassland of El Cajas west of the city became the site of Patricia Talbot's Marian apparitions from June 1989.
