A rumoured spy plane, whispered about but never shown. Aurora surfaced in the MoD's handling of the Cosford Incident of 1993. More than 30 sightings had reached the ministry in about six hours, and radar tapes showed nothing unusual. On 22 April 1993, Air Marshal Sir Anthony Bagnall was told the sightings matched some characteristics of the rumoured aircraft. The Pentagon drew a blank. Years later, hidden pages of Project Condign held sketches of Aurora beside a triangular TR3 "Black Manta". Analysts had taken secret aircraft seriously. Clarke finds zero evidence either type existed as a working aircraft.
