December 2, 1974. About 10:30 at night. William Bosak, a 68-year-old dairy farmer, was driving home through patchy fog after a Farmers' Co-op meeting in Frederic, Wisconsin. On the left side of the road stood something that did not belong there. A dark object, 8 to 10 feet tall, its lower half lost in mist. Its curved front was glass. Inside, lit from within, was a figure with its arms raised above its head. It had fur, ears like a calf and what Bosak called "kind of a cow-looking face." He hit the accelerator. Then he told no one for almost a month.
