Summer, 1608. A field on the edge of Šiluva, in Samogitia. Shepherd children watching their sheep saw a beautiful woman standing on a large stone. She held a baby in her arms. A strange light surrounded them both. And she was weeping bitterly. The next day the children came back with many from the village, and with a Calvinist minister. The crowd heard sobbing first. Then they saw her too. Asked why she wept, she answered that her Son had once been worshipped on this very spot. Now it was plowed and sown. What followed was a buried chest, a court case, and the only recognised apparition in Lithuania.
