Poona, 1928. In the home of the scholar Dr. S. V. Ketkar, an adopted boy named Damodar Bapat stood at the centre of something nobody could explain. He was only eight years old. An ink bottle flew across the room. A paper-weight narrowly missed a woman's head. A small table came hobbling onto the verandah. Coins appeared in the air in daylight. Miss H. Kohn, a London University graduate living in the house, kept the record. The diary ran until January 1930. Herbert Thurston found the witnesses impossible to dismiss. A 2023 reanalysis urged great caution. The argument has never been settled.
