13Thinly documented UAP Orb / light 9 sources

May 26, 1964. About 11 p.m. A car heads west toward Pleasantville, Pennsylvania. Off to the left, a light burns so bright the people inside have to squint at it. Then it is gone. In town it returns. Dimmer now, hanging above the treetops on the other side of the road. They stop. They get out. The light appears to take off, and they give chase. Two miles on, on a hill toward Titusville, it rises like the setting sun and rapidly disappears to the west. The witness was Rev. H.C. Shaw. Project Blue Book closed the file as unidentified. Decades later, one researcher looked at the western sky and named a suspect.

Context

Pleasantville is a borough in Venango County, Pennsylvania, on the road to Titusville. The case that unfolded there survives only in fragments. No known newspaper story, no photograph, no film. What remains is a Project Blue Book file built from letters, notes of a telephone interview and a report by a NICAP investigator.
