Skrapar, Albania. Sometime in the early 1960s. Five MiG-19s fly toward Mount Tomorr. Then a glittering sphere flares ahead of them, so bright it almost blinds the pilots. Instruments lock up. The radio goes silent. The lead pilot, a man from Skrapar remembered only as Veizi, is ordered to open fire. Within seconds, communication is lost for good. His jet was found on the mountain with Veizi dead inside. The cabin, the accounts say, had been cut crosswise as if with a knife. The story surfaced only in 2017, beside a novel, and no file has ever been found.
Kuçova military airfield was then called Qyteti Stalin, "Stalin City". It was home to the First Jet Combat Aviation Regiment. The mountain in this story is Mount Tomorr, in the district of Skrapar. The story surfaced only in March 2017, in the Albanian paper Shqiptarja. It is usually dated to 1960 or the early 1960s, but the real date is unknown.
