Friday, October 20, 1967. 4:36 a.m. A patrol car was cruising a quiet town in the South Eastern United States. To the east hung a bright red, football-shaped light. As big as the moon. It lit the inside of the car so well the officers could read their wristwatches. It turned orange, then white. When they chased it, it moved away. When they turned back, it was right behind them. Over four successive days, officers in 11 communities, probably around Milledgeville, Georgia, pursued lights by car and by plane. The Condon Committee sent investigators. Their verdict was blunt. Context

Fall 1967. The Condon Committee, the USAF-sponsored University of Colorado UFO Project, was gathering cases. Case 37 came from the "South Eastern" United States. The report hid the towns behind letters. Town B. Town C. Eleven communities in all, where city police, sheriff's officers and highway patrolmen talked to each other by radio as the lights moved.
