Encounter record / 1978
Piranhas, Goiás. Friday, 20 January 1978. About 5 p.m. Six boys were playing football when a luminous disc came down without a sound. Four ran home in terror. Manoel Roberto, 11, and his cousin Paulinho, 10, tried to run. They could not. That evening, Manoel was knocking on doors in Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso. Cold, hungry, half-undressed. He spoke of eight small men in red who never said a word. At 7 p.m., residents there had seen a strange luminous object in the sky, and the power had failed across the region. Manoel was found. Paulinho never came back.
