A researcher and writer, Mike Swords appears across the archive as the author behind several NICAP case pages. On the 1949 Rogue River disc sighting at Gold Beach, Oregon, he argued that Air Force Director of Intelligence Charles Cabell treated the case as a real unknown. For the 1969 Van Horne soybean field trace in Iowa, his NICAP summary drew on the APRO report form. It described a gray metallic disc the size of an automobile, with an orange-red band of light around its rim. He also contributed the NICAP page on the 1976 Alaska Highway ambulance encounter.
