A rationalist organisation in India, it appears in the archive through one recurring figure. Sanal Edamaruku. In the Ganesha "Milk Miracle" of 1995, he showed milk coating idols and pooling at their bases, alongside government scientists testing the temple statues. Six years later came the Monkey-man of Delhi panic of 2001. Edamaruku examined more than 40 claimants. He concluded that the injuries were self-inflicted, and spoke of critical faculties disappearing when fear reached a pathological level.
