Exeter

Place 4 stories, 1892 to 1966

A town in seacoast New Hampshire, with Pease Air Force Base nearby at Portsmouth. September 3, 1965. In the early hours, 18-year-old Norman Muscarello was hitchhiking home to Exeter along Route 150 when an object stopped him cold, and he fled to the Exeter police station. Patrolman Eugene Bertrand went out to look. The Exeter Incident became the subject of John G. Fuller's 1966 bestseller, Incident at Exeter. In March 1966, NICAP logged another police sighting there, and the town is recalled alongside the Damon, Texas deputies' sighting and the red orb over Londonderry.
