Documents / FOIA release
This is a Central Intelligence Agency office memorandum dated 31 March 1953, approved for release in 2001, on unidentified flying objects. It reports that the Office of Current Intelligence is no longer following U.F.O. reports and suggests that the Office of Scientific Intelligence keep watch in case activity increases that summer. It proposes naming the Chief of the Applied Science Division as coordinator, rerouting future messages to that division, and destroying most of the old files except for samples of unusual reports.
