The Texas chupacabras
A rancher near Elmendorf shot a hairless, blue-grey animal in 2004 and the pictures went around the world. For five years Texas kept producing them: trapped at Coleman, three dead on a road outside Cuero, one filmed from a deputy's dashcam. The lab results said coyote, with mange, every time.
