Context
The farms of northern Sussex County lie beneath the Kittatinny Ridge, close to High Point State Park. In the mid 1970s this corner of New Jersey was already in the grip of a Bigfoot craze. State Fish & Wildlife warden Irving Raser and Charles Ames reported a figure with "long brown hair, deep-set eyes, bare palms and a flat face." Five witnesses near Bear Swamp described something about 9 ft tall with long gray hair. A forest ranger on a Sussex County trail saw something about 8 ft tall with big red eyes.
