Context
The summer of 1965 was restless over the American Plains. In the first days of August, reports poured in from Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. On August 1, radar at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma picked up targets. The same day, a TWA 707 near Topeka reported "12-15 targets on Air-Intercept Radar." In Sherman, Texas, stations and police were "flooded with reports."
