Sunday 19 November 1995. Wem Town Hall was burning. A crowd gathered in the small North Shropshire town to watch the old red-brick building go. Among them stood Tony O'Rahilly, a local man with a camera, black-and-white film and a 200 mm telephoto lens. He saw no girl. Then he developed the film. In one frame, a young girl in old-fashioned clothing stood in the doorway of the burning building, staring into the camera lens. Nobody in the crowd had seen her. Neither had the firefighters. Locals suggested a name from 1677. Jane Churm. It took fifteen years, and a postcard, to answer them.
