Context
Chile, 1983. In May the first Jornadas de Protesta Nacional, the national protest days, challenged the Pinochet regime. Weeks later a teenager on a hill at Peñablanca, near Villa Alemana, said the Virgin Mary had appeared to them. Miguel Ángel Poblete was 17. Born in Curicó, they lived in a home for minors in Villa Alemana, 26 km east of Viña del Mar. Years later they would live as Karole Románoff.
