September 15, 1938. A field beside a small farm in the hamlet of Kerizinen, in northern Brittany. Jeanne-Louise Ramonet, 28, sat on the bank knitting while her two cows grazed. Then a very bright light. Inside it stood a very beautiful Lady, hovering six or seven metres above the ground. It was the first of 71 visions over 27 years. Only she ever saw the figures. She wrote down 65 messages. Crowds came anyway. A spring appeared, oratories rose, and the diocese refused to recognise any of it, again and again. Pilgrims still pray the rosary there every day.

Context

Kerizinen is a hamlet in the commune of Plounévez-Lochrist, in Nord-Finistère, between Brest and Morlaix. Jeanne-Louise Ramonet was the fourth of nine children on the family farm. She was frail. Her siblings left. She stayed. In 1936 she went to Lourdes with the diocesan pilgrimage as a sick person and came home partially healed.
