Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe. May 9, 2017. At House No. 4146A in the Chikonohono suburb, the Chiviru family says stones began to fall on them from nowhere. At first they came at 20.08 hours. Every night. Then they became frequent. The stones grew bigger. They broke windows, damaged asbestos roof sheets and struck the family's daughters, sometimes until they fainted. Church elders came to pray and left after being hit. Prophets performed a cleansing. Nothing worked. By July the family had collected two sacks of stones whose source nobody could name, and their story had reached the pages of The Herald.
Chinhoyi is a town in Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. In its Chikonohono suburb stands House No. 4146A, home to Phillip Chiviru, 55, his wife Tabitha, and their daughters Concilia, 22, and Shamiso, 19. According to Tabitha Chiviru, the family's ordeal started on May 9, 2017.
